Brooke Leinbaugh, Soprano

Brooke Leinbaugh is an operatic soprano from Michigan who is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Opera Performance from Arizona State University with Dr. Stephanie Weiss. Brooke graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Michigan University in 2023 with two Bachelor’s Degrees in Vocal Performance and Choral Music Education. While at Western, Brooke performed multiple leading roles in various productions, such as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and Susanna in Il segreto di Susanna. Since attending graduate school, Brooke has performed many leading roles in multiple productions at ASU and with the Arizona Opera Company. Some of these roles include Georges Sand in Notes on Viardot, Proserpina in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, and her most recent performance as Tina in Jonathan Dove’s Flight.  She is also a recent winner of the Cal-Western Regional NATS competition and was a previous winner of the of Western Michigan University's Concerto Competition in 2022.

On top of her celebrated performance life, Brooke is also an avid educator within the choral realm and serves as a private instructor for multiple studios. Brooke has developed a voice curriculum that aims to provide students with a well-rounded, fundamental set of knowledge and skills that will help them transition into the professional world smoothly and with the ability to cultivate successful lives immersed in music. This curriculum  is rooted in her personal philosophy that music culturally informs, emotionally inspires, and socially reforms. Brooke has directed choirs of all age levels, most recently directing the Gospel Troupe Youth Choir and Handbells at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church. With this group, she focuses on how interpersonal experiences can influence and potentially inhibit the ways in which students interact with and value music. She previously served as Assistant Director of Choruses and Choral Scholar at St Luke’s Episcapol Church, where she rehearsed and conducted various liturgical and complex choral repertoire for various performances. She has taught privately for various studios in both Michigan and Arizona and is currently working for Barefoot Creative Space in Phoenix and the Arizona State University Community Music School. She continuously stresses music’s ability to provide psychological development, exploration of various languages/cultures and human emotions, and the development of important life skills. 

Brooke’s past and present affiliations include the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, the National Association for Teachers of Singing, the American Choral Directors Association, the Michigan Music Education Association, and the Arizona Women’s Collaborative. 

Brooke will travel to Aspen, Colorado this summer to serve as the Titles Director for the Aspen Music Festival from June to August of 2026. She is beyond excited to continue her performance and teaching careers with the hopes of musically inspiring others and creating avenues that aim to foster expressive, inclusive platforms for musical celebration.
